​The "Whats, Whens, and Hows" of Presumptions in Missouri Family Law

 Presumptions in custody and child support have been the subject of debate and confusion. In this session a variety of speakers will explore the presumptions that are currently codified in statute or recognized in the law. They will also discuss how such presumptions are applied and rebutted in different settings, including in litigation, by the court, in evaluations, and in mediation/ADR settings.  Participants will additionally learn about factors that may be considered in deviating from such presumptions.

Session Descriptions


PART I- Presumptions in Custody
Description:
This session will focus on presumptions in custody, including joint legal and joint physical custody, and how these presumptions are applied and/or rebutted.   
​Location: presented live in St. Louis, and simulcast in Kansas City
Panelists: Elaine Pudlowski, JD, Hank Miller, JD, and Catherine Hasler, Ph.D

PART II- Presumptions in Child Support
Description: 
This session will focus on presumptions applied in child support, including the Form 14, tax exemptions, when support is appropriate even though there is 50/50 custody, and how these presumptions are either utilized or rebutted.
​Location: presented live in St. Louis, and simulcast in Kansas City
Panelists: Stephanie Jones, JD, Patricia Susi, JD, and Nicole Pace, LCSW 

PART III- Judicial Perspectives - St. Louis 
Description: 
This session will feature local judges sharing their perspectives and answering questions.
​Location: presented live in St. Louis
Panelists: the Honorable Jason Dodson (St. Louis County, 21st  Judicial Circuit Court); the Honorable Katherine Fowler (St. Louis City, 22nd Judicial Circuit Court); and the Honorable Erin Burlison (St. Charles County, 11th Judicial Circuit Court) 

PART III- Judicial Perspectives - Kansas City
Description: 
This session will feature local judges sharing their perspectives and answering questions.
​Location: presented live in Kansas City
Panelists: the Honorable Patrick Campbell (Jackson County, 16th Circuit Court); Commissioner Sherrill Roberts (Clay County, 7th Judicial Circuit Court); and Commissioner David Kimminau (Jackson County, 16th Circuit Court)

Registration Fees: $50 for MO-AFCC members; $75 for non-members
